Weekly GlobalBG Individual & Pair Tournaments:
As announced earlier we will be starting GlobalBG Weekly Individual and Pair Tournaments from this Saturday (April 4).
Every Saturday we will have Individual Tournaments at around 9PM ET.
Every Sunday we will have Pair Tournaments at around 9PM ET.
There may be 5 to 10 min grace time to start to give more people chance to join.
In the beginning these tournaments will be open to all BBO players. When more of our GBG members will join, at some point we may make these a GBG member only tournaments.
We have permission to launch these tournaments with maximum 20 tables (80 players).
Tournaments will be visible at BBO> Free Tournaments (Competitive) - created by our Club BBO ID (GlobalBG), two hours prior to the start of tournament.
The Individual Tournament (on Saturdays) will be of 12 boards. Players will be requested to play with SAYC and Standard Carding.
The Pair Tournaments (on Sundays), you can register with your partner and play according to your partnership understanding or register with Robot (with a fee to BBO) or you may look for a partner and invite anybody in the Partnership Desk, or sign up your name in the Partnership Desk so that other people can invite you to become partner.
For Pair Tournaments, the pair movement could be set as Howell Movement/Mitchell Movement/Swiss Movement. Depending on which movements the tournaments are set (could be different in different weeks), the number of boards played could be varied (from 7 to 18 boards)
The weekly % results of GBG members will be aggregated separately for Individual and Pair Tournaments - so that at the end of the year we can get a winner (no prize though) and this will create a competitiveness among our members and eager to do better.
To become part of the score aggregation- players must be participating at least 50% of the total number of tournaments (Individual and Pair - separately). Scores of all sessions will be averaged and then ranked (if participation is more than 50%)
Just before the weekend we may post a poll in this WhatsApp group to remind everybody about these tournaments and with that we will find out how many GBG members are interested to play these tournaments every week. Please participate in that poll.
We know some people may be busy on different weekend evenings, and some may not regularly play these tournaments every week, but we wanted to pick a convenient time which is good for all time zones of three continents and do not want to conflict with our team match tournament game schedules. Usually there are no Team Match Tournament games on Saturday and Sunday evenings of North American times.
We may launch other Individual/Pair Tournaments which will be completely for practice and fun purpose on other days/times of the week - and which will not be for any score aggregation.
Hope many of you will join this additional tournaments of other format (different from our usual team match format) and use these for your Bridge practice, learning and enjoyment.
